re(cycle) Limburg 11

Setup
The 11th edition of (re)cycle Limburg – International Design Week, “Learning Landscapes: From Stations to a Shared Territory,” explores how local placemaking interventions and urban strategies can collectively contribute to the territorial transformation of Limburg.

The workshop focuses on six station cities: Heerlen, Maastricht, Sittard-Geleen, Roermond, Weert and Venlo, with Heerlen serving as the collective base. Key themes include housing, wellbeing and climate adaptation.

Workshop Goals & Activities
Students will develop placemaking interventions at the local scale and strategic visions and scenarios at the urban scale, while continuously exploring how these actions connect to challenges and opportunities that extend beyond individual cities.

During the workshop, participants will travel across Limburg to visit, observe, and compare the six station cities and their different urban conditions.

Organization
The workshop is organized by the Smart Urban Redesign Research Center. This edition brought together as part of Limburg Centraal in collaboration with Province Limburg, partner municipalities, universities, and organisations.

Accommodation and meals during the workshop, except dinner, will be covered.

Application & Selection
Candidates will be selected based on their portfolio. Participation is subject to a limited number of places. Interested students are kindly asked to apply by submitting the required documents via email to Diana Enab (diana.enab@rwth-aachen.de) by Friday, 23th of October.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. Selected participants will be requested to fill in a registration form after they receive an email of selection.

Participation will count as a 3 ECTS field trip course.
